As promised, we're thrilled to share the backstage experience of Elam Hair Studio's team at London Fashion Week. It was an exciting opportunity where we partnered with Authentic Beauty Concept (ABC) to be part of this glamorous event, glamming up models backstage before they graced the podium.
Originally, our entire team had planned to attend, but Katie had a holiday pre-booked in beautiful Egypt, so it ended up being Diana and Charley who represented Elam Hair Studio at the prestigious event.
London Calling: Our Journey Begins
Our journey started on a Sunday morning at 10 am as we aimed to arrive by 2 pm. We hit London by 12:30 pm, checked into our hotel, which, by the way, was in an absolutely stunning location in Waterloo with a view of the London Eye. After settling in, we quickly made our way to the event, which was just a short 5-minute walk away.
The Royal Experience: Arrival at The Royal Horseguards Hotel
We arrived at the impressive historic 5-star The Royal Horseguards Hotel, situated on the River Thames at the Embankment. As soon as we walked in, the porter welcomed us, and we were taken to the area allocated for the show. The vibrant energy was palpable, with talented photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and models all getting ready. It felt magical, being part of the world of fashion, where good taste and luxury reside.
Teaming Up: Meeting Our Team of Stylists
We met our team, the ABC ambassadors, as well as other invited hairdressers. Together, we began planning the day, reviewing the hairstyles the designer wanted, and rehearsing different techniques to ensure we had enough time to style all the models for the catwalk.
Mind and Spirit: Preparing for the Day
Before diving into the actual work, we engaged in a team-building exercise that included meditation, breathing exercises, and other techniques to put us in a positive and focused mindset.
Designing Dreams: AADNEVIK, Our Client
Our client for the event was AADNEVIK, a luxury fashion brand by designers Hila Aadnevik & Kristian Aadnevik. A few hours before the catwalk show, we began the actual styling work, and it felt much like a film set. Since the entire event was hosted in the hotel, the pressure mounted as we approached 9 pm, the time when our models needed to be ready for the catwalk.
The Creators Behind the Scenes: Meeting Hila & Kristian
The designers, Hila & Kristian, were closely involved, ensuring that their dresses fit the models perfectly and providing instructions. Although we didn't have much time to chat, they were absolutely amazing, genuinely kind, and deeply passionate about their creations, striving to represent them in the best way possible.
The Grand Finale: The Catwalk Moment
The moment arrived, and we were ready just in time. The beautiful models gracefully walked the catwalk, and we couldn't help but admire their beauty and the entire experience. It was an extraordinary opportunity, working with the best of the best in their field, in the enchanting world of fashion. We both felt like we had always been a part of it.
A Day to Remember: Celebrating in London
After our successful day, we headed back to London to celebrate and next day we ended up spending the first half of the day enjoying brunch together and reconnecting with old friends in this vibrant city.
